Ten new questions every time. Answer them all, then check: you get your score, and the working for anything you missed.
In this lesson
- Say the link between the first pair as a sentence.
- Use the same sentence for the second pair.
- The answer must fit the same link, not just be related.
Your turn
Glove is to hand, as sock is to what? Foot, shoe, or leg?
Show the answer
Foot! You wear a glove on your hand, and a sock on your foot.
The common mistake
Here's a common mistake. Car is to road, as boat is to what? Sail, water, or captain? Lots of people pick sail, because it's part of a boat. But say the sentence: a car travels on a road. A boat travels on water.
Try it at home
Link sentences: pick any two words (bee and hive), say the link as a sentence (a bee lives in a hive), then find another pair with the same link.

Hello, and welcome to Myriora English! Hot is to cold, as tall is to what? Short, high, or wide? Hot and cold are opposites. So the answer is the opposite of tall: short!
Here's the trick. Say the link between the first two words as a sentence. A bee lives in a hive. Then use the same sentence for the second pair. A bird lives in a what? A nest!
Here are some common links. Opposites, like hot and cold. Young animals, like cat and kitten. Homes, like bee and hive. And people and their tools, like a painter and a brush.
Let's try one together. Cat is to kitten, as dog is to what? Puppy, bone, or bark? Say it out loud!
Puppy! A kitten is a young cat, so a puppy is a young dog. Well done if you said puppy!
Here's a common mistake. Car is to road, as boat is to what? Sail, water, or captain? Lots of people pick sail, because it's part of a boat. But say the sentence: a car travels on a road. A boat travels on water.
Your turn! Glove is to hand, as sock is to what? Foot, shoe, or leg? Pick the right card. You've got eight seconds, or pause the video. Go!
Time's up! Foot! You wear a glove on your hand, and a sock on your foot.
Quick review. Say the link between the first pair as a sentence. Use the same sentence for the second pair. The answer must fit the same link, not just be related. See you next time!
