Your turn

There's one minute left, and question twenty is still blank. What should you do?

Show the answer

Make your best guess! A blank answer can never score, but a guess might.

The common mistake

Here's a common mistake. Lots of people think skipping a question is giving up. It isn't! It means you get to answer all the easier questions first.

Try it at home

Skip and mark: do a short practice page with a timer. Any question that takes about a minute gets a mark and is skipped; go back to marked ones at the end, and leave none blank.

Hello, and welcome to Myriora English! In most tests, every question is worth the same. So spending five minutes on one hard question is a bad deal.

Here's the plan. If a question takes more than about a minute, skip it. Put a small mark next to it. Then come back to it at the end, if you have time.

And one more thing. In most 11 plus tests, a wrong answer doesn't lose you marks. So before time runs out, don't leave any answer blank. A guess might be right, but a blank never is.

Let's try one together. You're stuck on question seven, and a minute has gone. What should you do? Say it out loud!

Skip it, and mark it! Then carry on, and come back to it at the end. Well done if you said that!

Quick review. Every question is usually worth the same. If you're stuck for about a minute, skip it and mark it. Come back at the end, and never leave a blank. See you next time!
