The common mistake
Here's a common mistake. Find the hidden word in this sentence. Some people spot late, inside the word plate. But late is all inside one word, so it doesn't count. The real answer crosses a gap. Ben and dropped give B, E, N, D: bend!
Try it at home
Hide a word for each other: write a short sentence with a four-letter word running across a gap (like 'the dog ate' hiding gate) and swap. Check there's only one hidden word.

Hello, and welcome to Myriora English! Some eleven plus questions hide a four-letter word inside a sentence. The word starts at the end of one word, and finishes at the start of the next. Let's learn how to find it!
Here's a sentence. The dog ate his dinner. Don't look inside the words. Only look where two words meet.
Now slide a four-letter window across each gap. Most of the time, the letters don't make a word. But across dog and ate, we get G, A, T, E. Gate! That's the hidden word.
Always check that your word uses letters from both sides of a gap. A word that sits completely inside one word doesn't count.
Let's try one together. Find the hidden four-letter word. We must earn money. Say it out loud!
Tear! The T from must, and E, A, R from earn. Well done if you said tear!
Here's a common mistake. Find the hidden word in this sentence. Some people spot late, inside the word plate. But late is all inside one word, so it doesn't count. The real answer crosses a gap. Ben and dropped give B, E, N, D: bend!
